My short review published online in One Hundred Words magazine:-
Throughout his illustrious career the remarkable British jazz pianist Steve Melling has played with some of the greats, including Stan Tracey, Elvin Jones, Phil Woods, and Alan Skidmore.
With his latest release, Keys To The Upper Story, we get the chance to enjoy the subtleties of his eloquent and virtuoso playing in an intimate, solo setting. All the tracks on the album are originals written by Steve; a nicely balanced programme of irresistible melodies which have an immediate impact, and which provide the perfect setting for his fresh and vivid improvisations.
This album is a delight from start to finish.
